Barron County Retired Educators' is a local unit of the Wisconsin Retired Educators Association. All retired educators living in Barron County are invited to become members of our unit. As a local unit we meet 5 times a year in various locations throughout the county of Barron. The state organization - Wisconsin Retired Educators' Association(WREA) - currently has over 15,600 members. For information contact President Keith Kolpack at kolpackk@gmail.com.

BCREA Picnic July 22, 2015
The 3rd annual picnic will take place on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at the Narrows Park in Rice Lake. The social hour will start at 4 pm with eating beginning at 4:30 pm. Those attending should bring a dish to pass and some type of beverage. The BCREA will provide dishes, plasticware, grilled meat, buns, etc. Members should receive phone calls prior to the picnic. We hope many of the members will be able to attend.
Executive Committee Meeting
The executive committee of the Barron County Retired Educator's Association met at the Perkins Resturant in Rice Lake on Monday, June 22, 2015. All members were present for the meeting.
The dates, locations, and programs for the 2015/16 school year were tentatively set. Watch for the publication of these dates, locations and programs later this summer.
Discussion of the picnic set for July 22, 2015, at the Narrows Park in Rice Lake. The social hour will be at 4 pm and eating will start at 4:30 pm. BCREA Meeting from May 7, 2015
The Barron County Retired Educator's Association met on May 7, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cumberland. About 40 members listened to the presentor Sue Allyn from Barron County Office of the Aging. Her topic was about the availability of help for the aging vs the need to move to assisted living or a nursing home. She also talked about the assisted living and nursing home in the area of Barron County. Several hand outs where provided to those who attended.
Following the presention, a short business meeting took place run by Steve Eichman, BCREA president. One of the items discussed that was not on the agenda was that of providing financial assistance to those attending the state convention taking place in September. The unit will provide $600 to help with expenses.

BCREA March 2015 Meeting
On Thursday, March 19, 2015, the Barron County Retired Educators Association met at Lehman's in Rice Lake. Registration began at 9:30 am with coffee and cookies. The program for the meeting was County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald. He spoke on scams taking place in the county and what to look for so you are not cheated out of your money. As short buisness meeting took place lead by President Steve Eichman. One visitor, Maxine Brickner, joined us for this meeting.

BCREA January 2015 Meeting
On Thursday, January 15, 2015, the Barron County Retired Educators Association met at the Living Water Lutheran Church in Cameron, Wisconsin.
Registration began at 9:30 am with coffee and cookies. At 10:30 am, a program was was presented by the Cameron High School Chamber Choir and Jazz Band. The choir was under the direction of Beth Joosten and the Jazz Band under the direction of Mike Joosten.
The program was followed by a short business meeting lead by President Steve Eichman. Two visitors joined us. They were Paula McDaniels and Diane Peterson.
A sit down lucheon followed the meeting. The next meeting will be March 19, 2015, at Lehman's in Rice Lake. The program will be County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald.

November BCREA Meeting
On Thursday, November 20, 2014, the Barron County Retired Educator's Association met at 10:30 am at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake. About 50 members attended this meeting. Russ Fell of the DNR presented information on deer hunting, frack sand mining, and several other topics of interest of the members.
Due to the length of the presentation, the business meeting had to be cut short. Several items of the agenda were left fot the January meeting. The membership drive was stressed and the Top 10 key facts that set WREA apart from others. BCREA now has a special door prize available to those who bring a guest to our meeting.
The two visitors attending the meeting were Pauline Rhodes and Tom Hall. It is hoped that there will be more visitors attending the meeting in January. Our January meeting will be held on January 15, 2015, at "New" Living Waters church in Cameron.
